RSMLL Mourns The Loss of Dianne Salgado
It is with great sadness that I am already reaching out to you with yet another loss. Beloved RSMLL parent, Dianne Salgado passed away last Thursday after complications with pancreatic cancer. Dianne was a wonderful mother of 2 great boys: Jonathan who currently plays on a Majors team with RSMLL and Alex, who is a junior and plays baseball at Trabuco Hills High School. Dianne and her husband Sammy have been very involved within the league over the past several years. Dianne was a former board member and could always be found in the stands of the ball field, keeping score and cheering her boys on.
As a league, and in conjunction with the HEART foundation, we will be working on arrangements for a donation event with details to follow. In the meanwhile, the family will be having an open house and potluck this Sunday, February 28th throughout the day after 9:00 am to celebrate Diane's life. Please feel free to stop by and pay your respects.
The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers or gifts, that you make a donation to one of the following cancer charities in Dianne's name. The family is a huge advocate for creating awareness and early detection of pancreatic cancer.

As always, thank you so much for your love and support. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

RSMLL Mourns The Loss of Matt Schwenke
Dear RSMLL Family,
Some of you may have already heard the tragic and shocking news. Matt Schwenke passed away Tuesday night. Matt was a friend to a lot of us in the league, and to hear of his passing is indescribable. Matt was 37 years old, married to Barb and has sons Drake (13) and Logan (7). I became friends with Matt 4 years ago when our boys were in Rookie ball together and I have a great respect for him and the way he coached our kids and loved this game. I loved seeing him and Barb out there together teaching the players the game, it was inspiring to me and my wife to see the two of them coaching together. It is tough to think he will not be out there with Barb or us anymore. We have lost a great man and great baseball ambassador. Right now the family would like their time to grieve. Please do not call the house. If you would like to help, please take donations to Jodi Schaefers at 17 Mira Segura, RSM. The family could use Ralphs and Target gift cards, Barb’s family will be here to do all her shopping and cooking.
Matt’s memorial website is
http://web.me.com/radamesortiz/Matt_Schwenke
. There you will find details of the services for Matt and communication from the families. Our league has faced its share of tragedies, we have lost a player on the field and parents from diseases and accidents, but this is the first time we have lost an active coach and volunteer that spans 2 generations of players. Our league is working on ways we can honor Matt during the 2010 season and beyond. I will update you as I know more. Lastly for those of you who did not know Matt very well, please use the link below to read the article his alma mater UCLA wrote about him.
